Relax mayte. This is a cold engine temperature indication. It is to indicate the engine is cold and to take it easy on the throttle till the sign disappears. You may refer the owners manual for a more accurate explanation.

Your meter console is quite different from the Cedia that was sold 5 years ago. Looks like there is no temperature read out and you will get a similar alert for Hot engine. Instead of a "C", it will show "H", in red and should have a audio alarm too. I am quite amazed that HM-Mitsubishi carried out a meter console update at such a late stage.

I have seen the same engine temperature indication on Honda cars too.

Re: Mitsubishi Cedia Sports- the Red Beast!

As akshay4587 & sandeepmohan have confirmed, it is the engine temperature indicator.

Going little OT here in asking you the model year of your Cedia and whether you would be able to post a few snaps of the front console, instrument binnacle and the engine bay. Just want to see what all is different from the older models.

Re: Mitsubishi Cedia Sports- the Red Beast!

For the older models, we don't have this kind of indicator. We have simple needle to indicate temperature.
In my case the needle has never gone beyond the halfway mark between H and C. I have driven in 40 deg. C + temperatures and 10 deg. C temperatures. The needle always manages to reach exactly midway and stay there.

Does anyone else have this?

Re: Mitsubishi Cedia Sports- the Red Beast!

Sandeep
Thanks! I still have not got the user manual. Will be getting it sometime next week.

khoj
thanks for clarifying that. Now I understand that when the engine is cold this green light comes for a while and then disappears, Quite a nice function telling you not to push the car as its just woken up

Its a 2011 Cedia Sports - with climate control Air-con, OZ alloy and the rest. Sure will post picture of this soon. I will be using this thread for all my questions regarding the car.

Re: Mitsubishi Cedia Sports- the Red Beast!

This symbol in green means engine is not yet warmed up. It should glow on cold starts and disappear after a few km of driving.

If it comes on in RED, it may indicate overheating.

thank you for the reply. Can we drive when this light is on or is it advisable to wait until it goes off?

Second question - Seat belt warning does it work in the Cedia ?

Re: Mitsubishi Cedia Sports- the Red Beast!

Yes, you can start driving (but should keep revs low until the light goes off).
If you just keep idling, the light will take more time to go away (as the engine will take more time to warm up).

Couldnt agree more.

Got my bumper repair completed last weekend.

Set me back by 64,310/-

Face Kit, Front Bumper: 27,857/- (Part: 6400B363WB)
Panel for Air Dam: 23,516/- (was available in White only, hence procured and repainted) (Part: MN154911WA)
Paint: 3800/-
Clips/Binds/Rivets/Stripping charges extra, and then the taxes.
VAT alone was 6526/-

HDFC Ergo paid up approx 31k, which was promptly sent across too.

The bonnet is still out of alignment though, rattles at low RPMs/Speeds, minor issue, will get it fixed next time.

The Estimate was 17k for skirting and 34k for bumper.

Skirting cost was bumped up to 26k for some reason best known to them, parts cost going up they blamed.

Aquest had to be handheld for the wheel well lining, but overall they did a neat job.

Re: Mitsubishi Cedia Sports- the Red Beast!

^No idea sir.
I am better off purchasing parts from outside and getting everything done at TuneUpPlus.
June is going to be a big (expense) month for me.

@Mandheer: Send an email to Mitsubishi complaining the increase of prices. Since you are a registered customer, they will take note atleast.

Others here can do the same.

No real reason to increase prices many fold every year.
Same stuff available in outside market for perhaps 50% the price. Why pay such a premium?

Edit: Last week when I spoke to the service advisor, he said total cost of clutch replacement will be around 30K.
What is cost of clutch replacement of Skoda Octavia petrol?

Re: Mitsubishi Cedia Sports- the Red Beast!

I am considering purchasing a 2009 Cedia, Yet to see the car but thought I'll check with you guys if it's a good decision?

I am more worried about the spares and not the FE, I presume if driven with a light foot it would return 9-10 Odd per KM in city traffic.

Thanks
Slick

My cedia driven with light foot has always given me more than 11 kmpl with ac in city driving so i guess getting 10 shouldn't be difficult.
Cedia is an excellent car, how much the car has done which you are looking. My car has run just 22.5k kms and is absolutely a gem of a car. All the best for your new car. If you are getting a good Cedia don't leave it , you won't regret your decision

Thanks Saurabh,

The car I am looking at has done around 40000 odd kms. My concern is the price and availability of spares compared to say a Honda City.

I stay in Mumbai so I would like to know the availability in Mumbai.

I know both are different cars but if the upkeep is not very high then I'd like the cedia for sure.

Thanks,
Slick

2009 Cedia with 40k on the odo you say; may I interest you in a 2010 Cedia done 30k?

How much are you being quoted?

Parts are not a problem at all in aftermarket, slightly problematic with the Aquest guys since they are on order; however, running repair parts are readily available and always in stock.

Aftermarket parts are good quality and relatively much cheaper. Aquest even gives the option of you sourcing parts and they carrying out repairs, if you request politely.

Upkeep is lesser than a City; I have both. Given a Cedia service interval is 6 months or 10k kms, and City needs to be tinkered for oil and consumables every 3 months or 5k kms, that apart running parts rarely go bad in a Cedia.

Mine returns 10kmpl in city driving, with AC on all-times.

Again, I am serious about the 2010 Cedia!
