Re: BMW 320d CE Initial Ownership Experience and a comparison to Laura TSi

To update the idrive software on any BMW,

Visit www.bmw.com/update
Next enter the last 7 digits of your VIN
Download the software (BIN file) onto a USB flash drive
Plug the flash drive into your car and navigate to settings, update software on idrive
Voila you should have the latest ver of the software

Is the F30 available in grey colour like the old E90? Pl. refer to post 81 by petrol guzzler. That grey is what I mean

The F30 completes two years. I had a quick look at how much I spent on running expenses ( diesel, service, consumables , insurance) in the second year.
The breakup:
Diesel : 18200/-
Service : 24111/-
Shampoo, 3M wash etc: 7000/-
Insurance (Zero dep+engine cover):49698/-
Total: 99009/-

Appears modest thanks to mostly short daily work commutes in the year.
Has been trouble free - just half a day at Infinity workshop spent on second service .

I did install a Blaupunkt TPMS costing 14000/- that I have not included in the above . I don't have BSI so I pay the annual service costs. The service cost was higher than last year by nearly 4000/-

So the servicing cost for your 320d is
1st year: Rs. 10,111
2nd year: Rs. 14,000

That's pretty good knowing my Vento TDi can cost Rs. 10,000 annually for servicing.

:-) unfortunately, I may have been less than clear in the update !. The service cost for the second year alone was 24111/- . The first year was just over Rs 20K . The total fuel + consumables + service + insurance for the second year close to Rs 1 lac.

Re: BMW 320d CE Initial Ownership Experience and a comparison to Laura TSi

Hi, sorry to open back your thread. I'm in the market looking for a e90 320d specifically. Found quite a few and have narrowed down on to a 2010 27k km run single owner vehicle and a 2011 43k km run 2nd owner vehicle. Both are CE variant. Would you suggest going in for the 2011 model just for the slightly lighter steering or is it not as big a compromise considering the low run single 2010 hydraulic steeric vehicle ? What are the other changes if you know ? The rear passenger retractable sun blinds ?

You have mentioned about the AC vent slider being replaced ? How much do they cost ? Most cars I saw has it broken along with the inside door grip/handle leather being spoilt.

Did the steering go any lighter shifting to tubeless from rfts ?
