Yes, this road is really good. Not sure how often they tar it, few weeks back it did look like freshly tared.

But I could maintain 80Kmph most of the drive for 70Kms. Then suddenly road got bad, after two Kms of bad road, we reached a forest gate.

This road is horrible. And for most of the stretch only half is available with other other half under construction.

The guard quietly opened the gate and let us in. Before we drove in, I tried to confirm the directions with the guard. Then he pointed to a road to the left and said it was a much better road going to the same destination. So we left the bad road and enjoyed good road all the way to our destination.

The guard now does this automatically. Then took the supposedly good road, which was not that good. But still it is much much better than the actual one.

The forest here looked much drier compared to K Gudi, which was very green and feast to the eyes.

Few weeks back it was lush with green. But then, we only ended up looking at lots and lots of vegitation. Nil wild animals.

So this was the guide told us. When it rains, there is plenty of water around and vegetation is also lush. Because of lots of availability of water none of the animals comes out. Add if at all anything comes out, the thick vegetation makes it difficult to spot them. So the best season to visit this place to spot lot of animals is some where around summer. Not when it rains.

Suddenly our guide asked the driver to stop and started to listen keenly. He said he can hear warning cries from spotted deers, which means a predator is nearby. The guides do this often, ... it is a big leopard walking along the road next to the power line.

Yes,we came across one such warning cries. But after waiting for about 15 mins nothing could be spotted. And yeah, the road next to power lines, seems to be fav spotting place. All we managed to see was a couple of female adult elephant and really small one. The adults guarded the small one and managed to keep out of our site.

The resort in general was pretty good.

Best place to stay and enjoy wildlife at a decent rate would be the jungle lodges resorts, Jungle Lodges & Resorts Echo Holidays. You need to book in advance.

If you are looking for something more posh you could try cicada resorts.

On your original post of 1st February 2006, 09:13, The pics of the leopard are awsome. Its really very very difficult to capture a large cat.

However if you observe the 2nd pic closely the leopard seems to have stripes on its legs, Just like a tiger. I wonder if leopard's have strips like this one had.
Wonder if was a cross breed , Or is it just some image shadow distortion ?

Its good all the way till HD Kote, the last 10 kms are not that good. it will slow you down a bit.

It's not the best time to drive around due the heat but,the best time to spot animals.Visibility is good due to the drying habitation & animals come out looking for water near the backwaters.Enjoy..
