Travelogue: A family trip across Kinnaur and Spiti

11 years has passed since this trip, memories are vivid. I was not able to finish this travelogue due to some emergency. Going through this thread again and I wish I had panned it till end, had collected lots of information and recourses at that time.

How are the road conditions from Chandigarh -> Shimla -> Kinnaur and then to Spiti Valley. What would be your recommendation for this trip in a low-slung sedan?
