Nice one!!

I usually would land up at our ancestral home at the time of boiling/de-husking but have been lucky to witness all the varying stages. Grand dad did it more out of love for agriculture than anything else and had some interesting varieties.

Rolling around in the mud was a great pastime too

Growing up in city i never knew the steps of paddy crop.
Your step by step posts have been very helpful.
On a side note, i came to teambhp several yrs back when u mentioned it in r2iclub site.
have u lately visited r2iclub website, would love to hear of your experiences
after moving to india.

Hey Rawnak,

Glad to see somebody from the past. I did continue to contribute in r2iforum for 3 years after my return. But I had started to feel increasingly irrelevant there. My thoughts, lifestyle, issues had nothing in common with NRIs anymore. It became difficult to vibe with members for that reason. Then there were members who critiqued everything about how things are done in India, and preached how it should be done.

Eventually I realised it is time to move on. It is a great forum, I learned a lot, but the primary purpose of that forum is to help you move out of the demograph that make up that community. So it is difficult to remain there once you succeed in the goal of R2I.

in your company. last i remember u were in Mysore, have u shifted from
there.
regarding r2iclub i understand, sometimes people there "Baal Ki khaal"
nikaal dete hain just to prove a point and the discussion essence is lost.

For 2 years, I spent a lot of time on the R2i forum thread before relocating. I lost all interest in it within a few months of returning. All the worries seemed needless and adapting here did not seem so difficult at all.
Life is certainly more challenging, interesting and fun in apana des.

Ugh, I guess I better not know what the earlier perception was...

The harvesting this time has been badly affected by the cyclone that hit us for the past 3 days. The dry crop ready for harvesting, is now wet crop, damaged.

It is a forum that helps NRIs relocate back to India. Hence the name R2I. Originally it was a Satyam website, where distinguished returned Indians (RI) like Prof M.Vidyasagar used to contribute too. Since it was un-moderated, eventually trolls took over and quality went down the toilet. Some members got together and re-created the forum on MSN, and it became really popular. After 4 years on MSN, it was relocated to R2IClubForums which is the current home.

I can probably take credit for introducing Team-BHP to R2I forum four years back.

Yes, I too heard of the news of the flattened crops - and the effect of the cyclone on the roads, too ....... How hard it must be - to see that all the efforts of the last three months washed away just like that?
