Unscarred ???? NO. I will leave it to Nitin to clarify and post his details. You need to understand that first timers have absolutely no idea as to what the terrain is like. And therefore come to the raid unprepared and in for a shock. When we went the first time, we also had heard that the terrain was bad, but it's difficult to imagine unless you have actually seen the terrain for yourself. Luckily we spoke to a couple of people who had gone before and even had a chance to see some of the photographs and therefore prepared accordingly.

As far as spares are concerned, we made sure we carried the essentials after our personal experience on last yeard raid. We broke down on Leg 3 and had to wait 5 days before we actually got back to civilisation.

hi supremeBaleno

well there was no visible damage at least to the car. the huge time penalty you see against our name was mostly due to arriving early at a ew time controls (u get penalized double time if u r early)..

our aim was to finish the raid right from the start. there were a few scary moments (specially in Leg 2 & 4), but i guess if you take care of the car and stay within its limits, you would be ok. Sideways is right in his observation as we were really shocked to see the terrain the first time, but then decided we would not quit.. Well we thought Reliability Trial was easy?? What say you Sideways??

Farhan

Belated congrats, was away for the past two weeks

An awesome feat no doubt, it must have been a total upstart, a team from hot sunny Chennai fat down below in a non Maruti vehicle- bit like the Jamaican Bob Sled Team

You need a well deserved drink!! When are you in Bangalore?

Finally the media seems to have woken up to this awesome achievement.
The Hindu's "Metro Plus" supplement has an article on Sideways and team, with a report and a pic of the team.

The full report available at http://www.hindu.com/mp/2006/11/07/s...0700420100.htm

Great report Sideways! And hats off to Mr And Mrs Nitin Kapoor for imagining such a crazy honeymoon. You and anyone you talk to about this will remember it for a long long time.

hi guys

you can catch a glimpse of the raid action here:

http://www.ibnlive.com/news/raiddehi...s/24627-5.html

You can view photographs taken along the way by clicking on the link in my signature.

PS: Most of these pics have been taken from a moving rally car (i.e. a Wagon R :-)). Dont expect them to be competing for the Best photo of the year award.

Hai NK,

I viewed all the 185 pictures on your yahoo link, the photos are a living commentary of your awesome drive. Some of the the snaps are competition class. Which camera did you use?

After reading your account and seeing the pictures, I am more determined to drive to Leh in 2007, which Im planning for some time.
