Was browsing facebook and saw a group of people from Nomadic lust were organising a scuba event in Netrani island (facebook.com/thenomadiclust). Booked scuba diving on December 14th 2020 as scuba diving is best done on Dec-Jan. Those who want to book directly can do it using padi.com aswell.
SCUBA means Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus.

On the first day we were taken to Gokarna beach.

We travel 1.5hrs in the boat to reach Netrani island (around 20kms from murudeshwar)
Can anyone see the Netrani Island?
Getting prepared for the Scuba dive.
Before diving Instructions were given to us about
- Aquatic life
- Diving
- Equipment
- Breathing
- Equalizing
and everything you would need for your first scuba experience. All dos and don't s will be explained to you by the instructors.
Every person will be accompanied by an instructor underwater, completely safe and secure even for people without any knowledge of swimming.
We wore regular t-shirt and swim shorts rather than a scuba suit.
We were given strict instructions not to disturb marine life in any way.
For a total count of around 20 people only 3 were taken at a time as there were only 3 instructors, Rest of them were snorkeling in the sea with life jackets. Every person gets to dive with the instructor for 45mins inside the sea (40-42ft below).
Reached
Water was crystal clear.
Note : Few under water snaps and videography of 40-45sec was provided free of cost by nomadic lust team, Anything more will cost extra.
I was under water for 25min max as i got ear pain.
Max depth gone on that day by others was 9.3 meters.

Everyone has to try scuba diving once in their lifetime. Water world is totally awesome which has tons of different species.
The END.
Thread moved out from the Assembly Line. Thanks for sharing brraj!
Hi Raj, nice to see you experienced Nethrani island. My wife and I did it back in 2011, at the same place. My wife was so impressed with it, she went on to become a PADI certified Open Water Diver. She finished her final test in Maldives back in 2016, in her 40s. That trip involves swimming with sharks too. She is allowed to dive up to 18meters or 60feet.

Great post bRraj! Absolutely agree with your point that everyone should do Scuba once. The underwater world is so so different from above. It is like a slow motion world and makes us humans so vulnerable. I did mine at Great Barrier Reef back in 2005. It was so colorful. Few unlucky participants had to withdraw because of ear pain. Would love to venture again.
Very nice pictures. I am very scared of jellyfish and it is fortunate that you are safe.
I will definitely like to try this sometime. I knew about something similar in the Andamans but this location is new for me.

Totally agree with you.
I dived in Havelock in Andamans for the first time in 2009 and got my Open Water certification. Went once again with my wife in 2015. Dived a couple of times with Temple Adventures in Pondicherry too.
Diving in Lakshadweep, Maldives and Srilanka are next on my bucket list.
Glad to know SCUBA is taking off on the west coast as well.
SCUBA diving is indeed a really good experience. I did it a couple of time in Maldives (attaching picture) and had a lot of fun.
Wanted to do it in Australia too during work trip but unfortunately could not find time.
Agree, it must be done once in a lifetime. 70% earth is under-water and there is so much beneath the surface.
I did some amazing Scuba diving at
- Havelock Island (Andamans),
- Hikkadua (Sri Lanka)
- Cyprus.
My observation is Andamans was the best among these.
Although all are worth remembering for a lifetime.
Amazing writeup, lovely pictures. Scuba diving is an experience everyone should have at least once in lifetime. I tried Scuba diving when I visited Andamans. The underwater experience and the sights were simply breathtaking.
