I had a query. While going to Vikarabad I saw milestones showing a distance of 350 km to Bijapur. Does anybody know about this route? Even if the roads are average it might save time because of the distance saved.

Actually Venu there are several routes to reach NH4. Let me see if the following illustration helps

Now NH4 is like that thick backbone that runs continuously. The distance you travel depends on which entry point you took to this highway. You get down at Belgaum. As you see in the illustration there are several entry points to this highway. These are shown as narrow connectors.

I enter NH4 from say the leftmost one. So the distance travelled is the least. Whereas Avi enters from the rightmost one and hence travels more. This is actually so. Avi always takes the Kolhapur route and hence he actually gets on the highway from further right. Whereas I always get on to this highway from Sankeshwar and hence I travel lesser.

By the way, if you enter from Sankeshwar and get down at Belgaum exit then the total distance travelled is approximately 48 kms.

PM Deb (Zappo), if i am not wrong, he uses this road whenever he goes to goa. For me, distance is not a criteria but condition of roads is of paramount importance.

Nice travelogue Mobike.
Can you please give the directions to reach Hotel Surya in Sholapur? And their phone number also, if you have it? I am planning for a trip to Aurangabad during the dussera holidays and may break my journey at sholapur on the first leg.

When your on the highway approaching Solapur, you need to take the bypass which is a right turn to go ahead. But, if you need to enter the solapur city, keep going straight. you can ask for directions from the locals

Regarding the number, i have to search if i have their bill. Else, you can try a google search for Hotel Surya International.

HOTEL PRATHAM WELCOMES YOU
You will have to go into Solhapur though

[quote=mobike008;949689]Beginning Note:
The route that we took was quite well deliberated and got some awesome inputs from Ashish Pallod and HV Kumar. Infact, Kumar sent me an excel file with distances
et.all. We just simply took a print-out and whew, was that accurate. Great job guys !!!

Hi mobike,
The travelogue is awesome.A friend is coming down from Goa to my place by car.Could you send me the excel sheet with the distances.I want to pass it over to him as he has not done any long distances.Ill pm my email id if it is ok with you
Thanks,
Fergus
