Wow, I was not aware there is place like Tribal Museum near Ooty. Seems very nice place to visit. Keep going. This is a wonderful travelogue.:thumbs up

Yes, I keep revisiting this thread almost every hour to see if there is any update. I am enjoying my beast. I will try to put a post with pictures and ownership experience as soon as I get some time from my work.
And hey try to make it to the BHP meet this time(you missed last weeks meet). Sorry lalu for taking this thread to some other location. To avoid this you have to paste some more exotic pics
Murram and Thavi are already in the Museum !!!
I think I shall preserve the ones that we have at home which might fetch a bomb value in the years to come !

Ha ha, my same thoughts there. I saw some "aattukallu" and "ammikkallu" in some other museum.
I guess all these will fetch us a fortune later.
Day 3, November 29th 2009 continued
I have got a few PMs asking for the route to Emerald lake.
Mt. Palada, Tribal Museum, Emerald Dam, Avalanche, Kundah, Upper Bhavani all are on this road.
Please find the maps from Google showing the route.
This is the route I had taken unknowingly in 2006 in the night :Shockked:. More about that later.
continued...
Thanks for a wonderful write-up, Lalu! The pictures are truly awesome. Came to know about so many hidden gems in Ooty from your thread... Keep going!
Great photos of Avalanche lake. I always wanted to visit this place on my numerous trips to Ooty but did not get much help with the route. Thanks for the route info laluks!! I though we need some kind of permit to visit these places..Any pointers on that??

Those photos are not of Avalanche lake. They are different ones.
Avalanche lake photos are yet to be uploaded :) The teaser picture with my Red Riding Hood was Avalanche lake.
Emerald lake and Avalanche lake are still accessible, no permits required. But the dams are not.
Seems now upper Bhavani is also out of bounds.
Nice Pics Lalu. Have me hooked and looking for more. :thumbs up

Yes. It is also out of bounds. I was fortunate enough to go there about 3 years back and the route there is just too awesome.

Thanks KRRaj.
I don't know if Emerald and Avalanche will also become out of bounds. I guess not due to the villages there.
Please find the map details for the locations we did on day 2
Very beautiful locale, Lalu! The photos have come out really good! We were never lucky enough to see such clear skies!
We avoided going to Avalanche, when we were there! I am eagerly awaiting your pics.
When my wifey sees it, we will have one more reason to head back to the Nilgiris!!! :D
