On Sunday we had been to Mudaliarkuppam. It is some what 30mts drive on ECR from Mahabalipuram on the way to Pondicherry. The Tamilnadu Government is running a boat house. For 6 people island trip 2 minutes up 20 mts down boating and 30 minutes stay in the island beach costs 6600. Only 20 minutes boating in 6 seater is Rs.330. Apart from this the high speed adventure boat for 10mts is 400. There are pedal boats for Rs 130 for two and for 4 it is 260.Nice trip. There is no good hotel or restaurant there you should go to Midway only.

Hi Mpower,

There are theme parks and water kingdom's in Chennai.
  1. The MGM on ECR Before Kovalam. Their entry fee seems to be 400.
  2. The other one on ECR is VGP Golden Beach where as the entry fee is Rs.125.
  3. The third one is Kishkinta near Tambaram. It is as good as MGM and Queens land.
  4. The fourth one around Chennai is the Queens land after Poonamalle and before Sriperunbudur on Bangalore Highway.
Except the Golden beach all the three are good and almost equal to one to one. As it is a costly affairs we did not visit all.

We have visited VGP Golden Beach and MGM. You can select any one and visit once.

Rs.6600! Seems pretty costly to me. Shocking to se ethat event the government is charging this much for an island trip.

Hi Jason,

Thank you for indirectly pointing out my errors. It is 660 not 6600 it was a typographical mistake. Please read it as given below

For 6 people island trip 20 minutes up 20 mts down boating and 30 minutes stay in the island beach costs Rs.660.

There were two snakes mating in a vacant plot. They were very long and in one jump it was possible to reach near us. So with lots of caution the snaps were taken.

Hi Jason,

It was not nice. When I looked at the snakes and went for the camera, it took some time to locate again. Then the people gathered and they vanished before I took a good shot.

I have been to that boat house mentioned above with my friends a few months ago while returning from Pondy.

A good decision - it was truly a good place to go for a day.

We took Kayak's - and had for an hour nice exercise in water.

A pic of my friend -

Hi Shrikant,

Any posting on your Pondy Trip. I had been last week but no new postings out of my past one. Next trip planning to visit a Fort on the way to Pondy seems near Kottakuppam.

Re: Enchanting Weekend Getaway Places Around Chennai

Last week end that was on 10th September I had a one day get away. We (our family) left Meda vakkam at 7 am and went direct to Madurantakam Highway in through Tambaram. We had a break fast in Highway in for 5 people 315. In future it is better to have a buffet breakfast for Rs 75 per head. All unlimited except Vada restricted to one only. Followed by breakfast we went to Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi temple and had the Dharsan of both the deity and H H Bangaru adigalar. Then we came to Pukkathurai and went to Prasanna Venkatesa perumal Kovil on a small hill top where you can drive upto the top may be 1 to 1,5 km. Then took Chengalput Tirukalukundram Road (remember there are lots of bumps on this road) and reached Mahabalipuram and had lunch and had wen around the rock carvings on road side and looked from the car.
Then around 2.30 Pm we went to thiruvidandhai Nithya Kalyana Perumal temple. There was a big rush. If some one want to visit this temple avoid saturdays. Had a nice sakkara Pongal and Puliyodara(Tamerind Rice) prasadams for Rs 10 each.Back to home im Medavakkam via ECR through Kalaignar Salai Sholinganallur Elcot. Our trip ended at 6.30PM.
