Good going, will be sending you my personal email ID through PM, please do mail me the seagulls pictures on high resolution. Awesome photos, I can only dream on clicking such photos. Wait, it seems like a photolog only, where is the travelogue ?

Hey Rajiv, does one need to cross a river to get to Lamayaru?

In dsc_2486.jpg, has the M800 crossed the river and is the Safari stuck?

Awaiting the next installment.

No its not a crossing, Kargil to Lamayuru is (was) good road. We found a road going to river flowing with us and went down. And that safari is not stuck but having fun :D . And that M800 is having morning bath :D

Road to Hanle must have been metalled recently, I remember some friends 'off-roading' on their Enfields to Hanle a couple of years back.

PS - Nice pics...

I guess it was good all the way because of no pass on the route, only the last 20-25 km is bad and off-roading is required, which also will be tarred by August

This is how Zozila was:

Excellent Snaps and am sure this must have been a wonderful memory. Waiting for more...

Thanks

Wow rajiv you were very lucky to have such wonderful sun. In Leh all we got were clouds.
I presume you met Ajay for dinner on 5th June.
On 6th evening Baralacha La opened. If you had taken the chance, you would have crossed over towards manali, and met the Nano guys on the way.

some of the stretches look quite dangerous for a sedan, I wonder if you had skid plates at the bottom and did your cars bottom touch anywhere on the trip ?

Rajiv, of all the travelogues that i have read and the pictures that i have seen, your post is one of the best with excellent stills and descriptions of the journey. And not to forget, you guys really seemed to have had loads of fun together. The last time i went was in a zen, and was always worried about reaching my destination in time.

This post is simply a pleasure to read, and makes me want to do this route in my gypsy in peace now (just that, anymore leaves, n i'll be thrown out from my job now...lol)

Sky was all clear for us. except at Pangong :Frustrati , where I wanted it to be clear and it snowed while we were returning.

Yes we met Ajay on 5th and he suggested no to try Manali-Leh, infact we had we reports from couple of Scorps and one Innova crossed that day, and report was very bad.

Also looking at the Nano log pics, I am happy I did not tried. We already had enough adventure in the trip :)

No Skid plates

Yes it touched twice, both time my mistake as I was over confident and acting smart. but while returning no scarp. Overall no damage at bottom.

The only damage happened while I mis-judged a stone and decided to drive over it, but it hit the exhaust pipe
