All said and done, thankfully you guys came out of the accident scratch less and SX4 with minimal damages. Of,course it would have hurt you bad to see the car in that condition.

Can you share the repairing experience? What were the exact damages and costs etc? Is it that I am jumping the gun by asking the question?

What are the resolutions of the originals? I really think you should convert some of these into big posters from a good studio and frame them.

Thanks. Original Resolution is 4288 X 2848. I shot every pics in RAW+JPEG mode. So two pics for each

@RKB - View at Hanle is amazingly beautiful. What's more special on this place? Is it the spring water or anything more apart from that? I hope one doesn't need to take Dimox tablets here.

its the views, clear skies, Observatory, Only place you find Nomads and many more. I can confidently call it as the most beautiful place in whole Ladakh region.

And it does not have any pass on the way.

Regarding. None of us took Diamox in this trip. I only insisted on lots of water and drinks and just slow down on movements. Do not exert too much.

I wish your prayers are answered soon :)

Ok this is the last set of photos from the trip(off course there are alot of unposted pics there).

This was not really a happy day, and you know the story in my last post. but should not have lost my photography opportunity because of that mishap. but it was out of my control. I was upset, so here is what all I can capture with a sad mind .

Cheerful gang, last night, even after that bad experience. Unfortunately I forgot to shift to AF after having MF for the star trail pics. And I was using IR remote to click, so is the reason for all out of focus pics

Yes Bharat, I can definitely vouch; Hanle is very beautiful & typical Himalayas. Its good to know that it doesn't have any passes. Trust me, I'm very surprised to hear that you guys didn't take any Dimox tablets even during the night as I've heard that people suffocate & suffer from altitude sickness. Really surprised how you guys managed.

Again great photos. Yet to read the manuscript about that telescope. Will read at leisure.

The wilderness around the observatory is truly mesmerizing!

Superb pictures. The SX4 pictures have come out so nicely that they can directly sit on the company brochure. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome pics! You have some excellent photography skills.

Can anyone tell why there are so many telescopes/observatories? Are they for astronomical studies? Why specially there? Is it because of high altitude?

^^^ Yes could be due to altitude. Here's something that I could find out for you - IIA > IAO > Hagar Telescope

Some of the guy had little breathing issues in the middle of the night, and could the after effect of adventure they had last day, but nothing major at all.

Ok remote regions of Ladakh have some of the most clearest skies in the world. but most of the remote places in Ladakh has to be approached through some pass which makes it approachable only during some part of the year.

Hanle is the place which is the remote, clearest sky, and no pass in the route. So its connect all around the year from Leh and then from world via air.

Though its not really a very wide telescope but it have given some of the best pictures of stars and galaxies. You can watch it on there sites.

Its managed by Indian Astronomical Observatory, Bangalore, but these people have to never visit this place. Its accessible remotely 24X7. Generally a visit from manufacturer once in a month for general checkup and repair.

In case you visit there some time, talk to Mr Dorjee, he has some really funny and interesting stories to tell. Like how the rail door stuck when they closing it for rain and the had to run from base to scope to close it manually, Cleaning the lens etc etc

The control room inside the telescope is well equipped with tools and TV with all channels :D.
You can read more here : IIA > IAO > About Hanle

BTW IAO planning to build a much much bigger telescope at Pangong, and that's the reason the road work from Hanle to Pangong via Chusul is in high radar of BRO, which again have no pass I guess

few pics from inside the scope

Hai RKB,

Awesome pictures...... love the lake photos.

I caught some of these characters on the road between Rohella waterfalls around Rothang and Mirhi, wonder if they are cousins on a visit !!!

What are these, vultures of some kind?
