Because its to get on the toll road and drive to Nelamangala and take the SH may be less cluttered. (Thought its double the distance from NICE junction).
If you are coming from NICE, go over the bridge on NH4 and join traffic going towards the city. Once you join NH4 (towards city) you will find a traffic signal. This place is known as 8th Mile junction. Take a left at this junction and go straight. You will be passing Chikkabanavara on the way. There are not many signboards though. But, this is the easiest and safest way.

This route is shown as the 2nd route in the 2nd link you have posted earlier. Going via Nelamangala is far and you don't even know the road conditions on the SH.

Re: Day trip to the Beautiful Grasslands of Bangalore

Finally made it today! Must say one hell of a place! Tried one route via Nelamangala and came back via standard Hessaragatta route. Just that sun was strong, but cool breeze took the heat away. Amazing place.

The reason to take the route via Nelamangala was to see how that SH is.
I must say, its the best to by-pass BLR for NH7 and on.

How to best spot it? Just the road opposite NH48 and you are on the SH!

Addy,

Sorry I saw your post later and hence back to back posts.

I came back by the route you mentioned (standard Hessarghatta road). Yes its was very decent road. But since I was not sure of the traffic on the non-tolled section between Blr-Nelamangala), I did not take it while going.

PLUS got to know the nice SH. Must say folks going to Hyderabad and coming from NICE must use it for by-pass. Many places I saw repairs being done. A under-pass is under construction also at Nelamangala.

Please look at #26 (where I posted the routes).

As per what Addy said from the Hessarghatta signal on NH4 its one straight road.

Re: Day trip to the Beautiful Grasslands of Bangalore

I live in Sahakar Nagar. I wanted to check if Byalkere Peacock reserve really has peacocks? And is there an approach route for these grasslands from Byalkere?

Should I go via Thindlu, Vidyaranyapura and Byalkere?

Can someone give me the actual GPS location for these grasslands please or a google map location? Wanted to check it out today evening.

I have sent a PM with the Gmaps location info. Because of my reply now, you can only go to this place tomorrow.

Cheers
