aloys

i bought alloys and tyres of indian brand from local dealer in 15000 and three years warranty. alloys are 13" and tyres are 165/65 . these are better as overall dimension of wheel remains nearly same of manufacturers specified .using a low profile tyre may make ur alloy more prone to cracks . so either stick to 12" alloys or this is the best specifications of alloys and tyres which suited me the best. mr. jkdas i dont know much so i wrote according to my knowledge can u please kindly let me know where i was wrong.

Are these rim sizes for tyres manufacturer specific?

are they 5J?
Yes,5J .:: Aura - High Performance Alloy Wheels ::.

Was Hyper black available before?

I may go for a 4 spoke by KS , black color.

Was quoted 2.9k for GIII 165/60 R13.

F61350 , hyper black would look better I guess. Mine's a white Alto.

Saw a black 4 spoke alloy at CP and Motorplaza, may go for it if its 5J. Will revert to TBHP if its a 5.5j for mod ideas!

I dont know whether Hyperblack was available before. My alloys are Plati.

Although its personal preference, personally I dont prefer a 4 spoke or 6 spoke wheel. However Im not against 8 spoke or 12 (dozen) spoke wheels. Also the black wheels look great in larger dia and for bigger vehicles. In smaller vehicles i feel it doesnt look good.
Its just my personal opinion.

BTW, jkdas, I thought u had a JBLyfied Santro. What happened to that?

Alloys and Yokos for Alto

I have booked a new Alto car (Virgin Blue color) and on the look out for Alloys and Tubeless tyres. I have the following options:

1. Change tyres alone from Tubed to Tubeless - Same 145/80/R12 (rims)
2. Change tyres to tubeless and replace rims with alloys - 145/80/R12 (alloys)
3. Change tyres to tubeless and replace rims with alloys - 165/60/R12 (alloys) - More inclined towards this.
4. Change tyres to tubeless and replace rims with alloys (with upsize) - 155/70/R13 - I may not go in for this as vendors advised me about possible hit (using R13) when 4-5 people in car.

And the 165/60 tyres would be Yokohama A539. Does anyone have experience with 165/60/R12 Yokohama A539 ?

I have a Hyundai Accent and had upsized to 185/60/R14 Yokohama ES100 when I bought it. Am happy with it but the steering did become a bit stiffer.

Will 165/60/R12 be the correct upgrade without compromise on steering/ride quality. We'll be 4 of us travelling most of the times.

Thanks for any useful input.

Krish i use those tyres on the zen. They are good. Though isn't 165/60/12 the wrong size for the alto?

Not sure. One of the vendors gave me this suggestion.

Hi Krish, 165/60R12 is an incorrect tire size for the Alto - this size is a good 1.5" smaller (diameter-wise) than the stock size. Your vendor's probably confusing the Alto's tires with M800's tires.
HELP!!! New Alloys and Tyres for Alto.-tiresizesforalto.jpg
If you want 165s, you could go with 165/65R13 tiress. I used 165/65R13 GoodYear tires for a few months, but was having a persistent issue with slow punctures. Switched to 175/60R13 A539s - which are very good tires with loads of grip, they're a tad noisy however. With 165s you might experience slight fender "rubbing", with 175s its a tad more prominent. I'm contemplating a switch to 14" rims & 175/60R14s tires to accommodate bigger brake disks (might have to roll & flare my fenders a bit I think).

P.S. - Even AD07s are available in sizes that suit the Alto, unfortunately they aren't imported into our country - but you never know, anything could happen !
