Mod Note : Please quote ONLY the relevant bits of a post. Quoting a full, long post inconveniences our mobile readers.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Torque. Really helps. How's the grip when compared to GY Assurance triple max? And has there been any difference in handling at high speeds?

Re: Apollo Tyres to manufacture high-performance Vredestein tyres in India

Got new shoes for my Rapid today. For 185/60/R15 profile, Vredestein seemed the only premium offering.
Feels good to have a V rated tyre which matches the Max odo speed of the vehicle

Side profile looks good, at least better than continental CC6.

Do share the feedback after driving with them.

Re: Apollo Tyres to manufacture high-performance Vredestein tyres in India

I changed the 4 tyres of my Honda WRV Diesel, from the original Michelin Primacy 195x60x16 to Vredestein Ultrac ITL (same size), on 19 Sep, at Global Tyres Kochi. I had checked with 3 dealers before that.
The Michelin tyres lasted till 53000 kms, by which time some cracks on the side wall and tread wear limit had happened. New Michelin tyres available were of Nov 2020 make only. The other alternatives I considered were Continental UC 6 and Yokohama Blue earth. Blue Earth was available only as 205x60x16. I did not want to change the size and on price comparison and dealer opinion, I went for the Vredestein, which I got for Rs 7000 each.

I have run around 2600 kms on the new Vredestein tyres and I can say the rides on the good roads have been as good as the Michelin and on the bad roads have been smoother. I have a doubt if mileage is slightly lower but can confirm only after I take a Cochin Banaglore trip next month. Grip has been good on rainy days too,

Re: Apollo Tyres to manufacture high-performance Vredestein tyres in India

Hello Friends

The Michelin PSP4 tyres on my Škoda Octavia 1.8 TSI are showing age by now in the 2.5 yrs of use.

They have done almost 40k kms by now and still have some life left. However I usually change the entire set irrespective of the wear and tear approximately around 35-40k kms.

This time I am looking for the Vredestein Vorti tyres as a replacement in stock size 205 55 R16.
So expecting some info/ advice on pricing, availability on these tyres from fellow members.

Thanks in advance

I pretty recently upgraded my aging Octavia tires to Vredestein and did some 2500kms. They are really good. Premium tires as good as Michelin if not better. I definitely recommend it for premium cars.

Suggest you upgrade your RIM and tire to 225/45/R17 as it will give you better ride quality. Added the ODO difference would be just .38%.

Congrats on the new tires. Did you notice any drop on FE after the replacement and how about the noise in the cabin. Thanks in advance.

Upsize has definitely resulted in drop of FE. Mileage for me is more of a mindset and culture thingy. Hence the drop has not really bothered me. The drop is 1-1.5kmpl. For a car like Octavia, it is mandatory to have 17" tyres.

My view - the day you get into luxury car segment, it is better to enjoy the car rather than looking at only fuel economy. Use fuel economy more from an accounting perspective.

Re: Apollo Tyres to manufacture high-performance Vredestein tyres in India

After using Michellin XM2s for close to 6 years from day-one on my Aspire TDCI, I had upsized the wheels to 15 inchers from the Freestyle and fitted them with Vredestein Ultrac 185/60/R15 during December 2023.

My observations after driving close to 2000 kms MOSTLY (90%) on Highways is,
  • I am always using Nitrogen in the tires with 34 PSI - earlier on the Michelins it was always 33 PSI (one PSI more due to reduced wall thickness is logical? I do not know)
  • The thuds on the expansion joints on flyovers is very soft.
  • There is minimum tire noise when cruising around 90-100Kmph on tar roads, but too much noise when driving on cement roads
  • When on Michelins I never experienced wheel spin on semi soft/hard/sand/gravel surfaces, but was surprised / scared when it happened twice in the last 6 months after the upgrade.
  • The tire design has grooves along the entire radii, which are picking up small pebbles and stones, which was not observed earlier.
  • No change observed in Braking performance

Re: Apollo Tyres to manufacture high-performance Vredestein tyres in India

Well, Like I had mentioned in my post on the Ford Aspire forum few months back, after the last service, (when still with the OEM 14 inch wheels and Michelins) the car seems more smooth / eager to go, and I have been driving the car more spiritedly especially when I got some empty stretches on the highway. (Sira - Hubli - Sira is a best example), so the fuel consumption has been varying between 17 -18 Kmpl to 22-23 Kmpl. On my recent visit to Tirumala the MID fuel consumption is showing 17 Kmpl as I have not yet filled up the diesel tank.
To be honest - I am not bothered with the mileage, I enjoy driving the car since I use the car less frequently (on when going out of Bangalore).

I changed my 5th Gen Honda City’s tires few months ago from 185 to 195 sections (stock size was 185/55 R16 and I upgraded to 195/55 R16) and I went with the Vredesteins. I absolutely love the tires. I have driven 5k kilometres on them.

- The expansion joint thuds are extremely soft, rumble strips that used to create a ‘pat-pat’ sounds before are also smoother now. Every patch of bad road is dealt with very nicely.

- The braking has been really good on both dry and wet surfaces. I had been on a 2500 km road trip and have driven on all sorts of terrain and also in rain and the tires have performed really well.

- The fuel efficiency has decreased by ~1 kmpl. But that is due to the upsize.

- The tire noise is really well controlled in these tires. I rarely drive over 100 kph. However, till this speed I’ve not noticed any tire noise.

- There was one particularly nasty section between Yellapur and Hubli where there was a step between the concrete and tar roads. Due to it being dusk I could not see it till the very end and the car just went at about 50-55 kph through that step. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was absolutely no damage to the tires. They absorbed that impact brilliantly.

- The tires come with 5 years warranty of which the first two years are unconditional

- They cost me 8k per tyre (195/55 R16) and I purchased them from Madhus tire centre in Bengaluru

My next set of tires will also be Vredesteins for sure. Hope this helps.

Appreciate your honest feedback. I am stuck between the Vredestiens Ultracs and the newly launched Bridgestone Turanaza 6i which offers 3 years unconditional warranty as against the Vredestiens.
The other point to consider is that there are not many reviews for 6I so its a gamble . Ultracs have a plenty of good reviews which instills confidence. Let see which one fairs on the day of replacement.
