Rs 2700 for Potenza GIII 165/60/R13 justified?

Hi All,

Iam upsizing the tyres for my zen vxi 2003, from stock to 165/60/R13.

2 quick questions

1) Is Rs 2700 for Potenza G3 165/60/R 13 justified?
2) Iam not able to find alloys for 13x5J apart from Aura (not a fan of it's looks), will 13x5.5J fit in? have any of you guyz run on 5.5 J alloys? Please comment on the issues I might have if I run 5.5J? or if you have a better solution SHOOT

Thanks guyz

Last year when I enquired they quoted 2750 per tyre in Hyderabad. After that, there has been a good increase in tyre prices. Keeping this in mind, I think that is a fair price you have got.

For the second question, tyre gurus would answer.

I got it for the same price 1 year back. So it sounds like a very fair deal. Check with some other tire shops to confirm the deal, latest prices and discounts will be available only from a dealer, not known to present users !

I think the price is fair enough and do check @ millivisions on the Lalbagh road as i heard he too offers a better price in case you are checking by the shops.

price seems to be fair, before purchase just have a compare from different shops. and also confirm about the warranty
Alloys you can go for other imported brands also.

13'' 5J does come out with wide range of alloy designs from imported manufacturers like League, Lenso,HR,Plati and if you are trying to find in Aura and Neo (Indian brands) you might have your radar limited i feel. I used to have a 13" 5J League alloys earlier before switching to 13" 5.5J and definitely there were many 5J alloys around a year back for sure.

Thanks for the reply Mavrick

Can you please suggest some shops in banagalore where I could find 13x5J alloys?

Also is there a problem or did you feel any difference with 13x5.5J alloys.

thanks

Thank you All for the replies

Absolutely justified, my friend bought the same size about a year back at Rs 2800 / tyre.

Yup, that's a very important check especially on GIII's.

A 165/60 R13 trye can be fitted on any rim from 4.5J upto 6J. But considering this is for a Zen, you'd be better off with a 4.5J or 5J.

I'm using 195/60 R14 on 5.5J rims on my OHC and haven't faced any probs.

Guyz,

I saw this calculator on the net, which gave me the following info

Does this mean I can go in for 13x4.5J to 13x6.0J alloys for my zen?

@Idly: You just need to check out all the shops in JC Road and i forgot the name of the shop where i picked up (i think it was car shringar...not sure) its beside the Sai Iyengar Tyre shop on the road that connects the Corporation circle road to Lalbagh road. I suggest check out as many shops as possible and as you can and decide and am sure you can get 5J 13" for sure.

Regarding my 13" 5.5 J, well its mostly me and my wife who do the traveling and i did not face any scraping issues and definitely if its loaded fully there might be chances of the tires scraping the body when you hit a dip. I did not find it necessary to install spacers to avoid that problem as we did quite a distance travel on the NH4 to Mumbai and back on the same 5.5J.

If you have decided on bridgestone itself, you can find all the performance dealer details from official site itself, try this link Tyre & Tube, Tire Manufacturers, Radial Tyre. I am not sure of the J C Road shops, be careful about fakes ! Car Shringar is next to Garuda Mall opp. Home Centre, I did my dynamat damping there. Yoko and Bridgestone have good stuff for your need as I understand from other threads.
