Sorry about reopening an old thread, Glifford. Neatly done and superbly documented DIY. How're the alloys holding up? Has any of the putty chipped or jumped out? And what about the paint finish?

Was searching through threads for someone in Bangalore who re-finishes alloys professionally, but might consider this if professionals are too expensive!

No issues about opening the thread VeluM!

The alloys have certainly held up well. No chipping or popping out of putty or peeling of paint.

But that said I have hardly put in serious km after doing this activity. Some constraint or the other meant haven't been able to put any serious (mile crunching) out of town trip. And I never commute on the car (most of it has moved to a bicycle). Done just some 5000 km in the 1.75 years after doing this.

Plus no serious out of town also means must have crossed 100 kmph just once!

So do take these factors into consideration. Maybe the paint and putty have not "seen" enough!

Finally. Managed to put some extra scratches on the alloy a couple of times! Would blame the poorly designed un-uniform kerbs on several roads (esp. when parking). So this is a never ending maintenance job!

Thanks! And glad the DIY is holding up well (regardless of the low mileage), gives hope to other DIYers

Update!

Have managed to push the car to 140+ speeds and sustain at ~120 on some long drives.

No detrimental effects of the centrifugal forces generated on those putty patches as yet!
