So considering Stock is 155/70 R13, you can go with the below options:

165/65 R13 : Very minimal height / diameter increase
175/60 R13 : May require wider rim if the stock rim size is below 4.5J.

Earth 1 would be value for money and an all-rounder.

Since I've always wanted to increase the footprint from the stock 155 section tyres, I was thinking of going for section 165/55 R13 tires on the stock steel rims. Is this a good choice? Will it cause rubbing /sticking ? Also, i was fixed on Michelin XM2s but looks like Yoko Earth 1s are equallye.

I changed tyres on my 2012 K10 last year from the stock Bridgestone 322 to MRF ZLX. Happy with the switch as these offer good grip, improved ride while being silent. For 13 inchers, I think these are the most vfm option. I stuck to the stock 155/65 spec. After driving my K10 to all corners of the country with some spirited driving in the hills, I am with the stock spec.

You have to check if 165/55 will fit
