Re: Goodyear Gt3 Review

Have the OEM GT3s on my innova...After 42k kms, 2 have worn out and 1 had so many punctures that i had to put a tube in it.

Overall good, but they seem to get a puncture every 2-3 months.

Re: Goodyear Gt3 Review

Replaced my Goodyear GT3's on my car after exactly 60,000 kms of almost trouble free ownership.
My rating for these tyres is below.
  1. Durability - Excellent - 10/10. My tyres lasted almost 4 whole years and 60K Kms with very little maintenance. Total 7 punctures (across 4 tyres) in the whole ownership. And when I changed I still had about 6 mm of tread left. It was still as grippy as earlier.
  2. Grip Levels - Decent - Dry (8/10), Wet (6/10). I tend to be a spirited driver and take corners pretty aggressively (as much as my vista allows me to). Ghat driving was always comfortable. The Wet grip though leaves a little to be desired, however I almost never had a scare (NO aquaplaning, tram-lining). It grips well as long as you drive within its limits.
  3. Comfort - Good - (8/10) It gives a pretty cushioned ride and I have experienced good ride even on the worst roads.
  4. Noise - Bad 4/10 - On a concrete road the noise they made was crazy and you almost could never drive with the windows down.
  5. Toughness - EXCELLENT (10/10) - This is where the tyre shines. I had a couple of cases, one where I hit a pothole at a good speed (on a drive to Shirdi) at night where after I stopped I saw that the Rims were bent really bad, but there was almost no damage to the tyres (that was about 38K kms). Even earlier a similar case while driving on the old Pune Solapur road There was no damage. To add to that a couple of brushes with kerbs and rocks did not damage the sidewall.
Overall, except for the noise, I would have readily bought these tyres again. I recently changed over to Falkens (will review them soon!)

I would rate these tyres 7/10 (except for the noise) and if someone is willing to live with the noise (city driving) then 8.5/10.

It is the perfect tyre for someone looking for a long life, decent grip and durability.

Re: Goodyear Gt3 Review

My Ford Classic came with Goodyear GT3 tyres which were good for nothing and last week one of the tyre started bulging out, because of which the steering was wobbling which got replaced with my stepney and the same phenomena I have seen in one other tyre too now, which is in the early stage. Is this issue identified by any users before?? Posting pics too and its nothing to do with the alignment and I confirmed the same wit 2-3 experts.

After thorough research I'm planning to upgrade my tyres to Michelin XM2 185-65/R14 from the stock 175-65 R14.

Multiple reasons for such wear. Over-inflation, irregular wheel alignment & most likely hard braking for that flat spot on the tyre.

That's incorrect upsize, increasing width without reducing aspect ratio. Tyre height will gain by 6.5mm.

I wanted to have a bit more height, since I've been getting underbody hots very often. Increasing the height by the mentioned figure by you will have to rechecked? is there any specific concern? WIll that affect anywhere?
Please let me know

Re: Goodyear Gt3 Review

Good Year GT3 (175/70 R 13 profile) came as stock tyres with my Indica Vista Safire 2009 model and lasted 38200 Kms.
My ratings for these tyres on various aspects are as follows;

a. Grip and stability on dry surface – 10/10.
b. Braking – 10/10.
c. Resistance to minor cuts and fissures – 8/10.
d. Grip and stability on wet surface (rainfall) – 7/10.
e. Resistance to air leaks – 7/10.
f. Ride comfort – 6/10.
g. Durability – 5/10.
h. Resistance to heat build-up – 3/10.
i. Noise on concrete/ rough surface – 1/10.

In a nutshell, it was a mixed bag of experience all along; excellent on some aspects, worst on some and acceptable on others. Arguably amongst the best for someone who is on tight budget.

Re: Goodyear Gt3 Review

Goodyear India rolled the GT3 into the sunset somewhere towards the end of 2016. It is no longer available in the replacement market.

Sums up exactly what I would say about the GT3s on my Ford Fiesta Classic.
When new, they were more than acceptable as a stock OEM tire. But they do not age well.
My tires are just 3 yrs old, 35k on the odo and the compound has become hard beyond a certain limit. I assess I would need a new set of tires very soon.
Steering wobbles a little even after alignment and balancing - especially on concrete surfaces, tire noise is ridiculous, grip - although strangely acceptable earlier - has gone down crazy. You may skip a beat when the car is with a full load and you need to brake in emergency.
To top it all, one of the tires is repeatedly giving way at a single point where the puncture was plugged the first time. Today was the third instance on the same tire at the same spot. Clearly tells that the compound has gone bad.

To probably add ratings:
a. Grip and stability on dry surface – 8/10.
b. Braking – 7/10.
c. Resistance to minor cuts and fissures – 9/10.
d. Grip and stability on wet surface (rainfall) – 6/10.
e. Resistance to air leaks – 7/10.
f. Ride comfort – 6/10.
g. Durability – 5/10.
h. Resistance to heat build-up – 5/10.
i. Noise on concrete/ rough surface – 1/10.

Definitely shifting to XM2 very soon.
