The Heritage car rally took place this morning at the besant nagar beach. The rally was flagged off at 9.00am. The cars were proceeding towards pondicherry.

Karun Chandok was present at the event. Will be uploading more pictures soon.

If you are referring to the MYM registered maroon car with black vinyl top, that is a Riley RM Series.

Yes this is an annual event organised by the MADRAS HERITAGE MOTORING CLUB in association with THE HINDU & Pondy tourism.Normally it is held in January,but,was postponed this year due to the cyclone in Dec that had hit Pondy.

A very well organised event and some splendid collection of cars,though i dont see any Vintage Motorcycles or scooters.

looks like its had its wheels changed. The pics put up by Dominator are most likely from 1996, the first vintage car rally that i saw!

EDIT - My apologies, i got confused as i looked at the wheels of the Citroen and thought they were on the Riley as both the cars were almost similar colours.

This rally is only for four wheelers as it is a long run upto Pondicherry and back.
Two wheelers are encouraged in the club events within the city.

Hi all,

WDP 668, the medium red Mercedes 190SL in immaculate condition. Does anyone know it's history? I ask because it has West Bengal plates and for the longest time I've been trying to track out the only 190SL that I've heard of which used to be in Cal when I was a kid in the 80's.

That car was neglected and was in a really sad state. Belonged to a friend of my father's, the Late Maharaja Viraj Narain Bhup Bahadur of Cooch Behar. The car then passed on to someone else who tried restoring it but sold it off outside West Bengal.

Just trying to figure out if it's the same car.
