Gawd!!:Shockked: A herald??? That looks nothing like one,

Neither. Thats a Peugeout 404.

Spot on Karl. Both the Morris Oxford and the Peugeot 404 have the tops of their tailfins tapering "outward" as against the Austin Cambridge who's tailfins taper "inward". However, the shape of the rear door is the dead giveaway that this is a Peugeot.

Ah, the classic sixties Pininfarina six-cyl. look -- like the Morris Oxford, Fiat 1800, Austin A55 Cambridge, Isuzu Bellel, Peugeot 404, ...

But the dead giveaway to me was the 15-inch lug-centric wheel (i.e. with no centre hole)!!

Who else but the Quixotic French would design something like this. And with only three lugs to hold it in place?

That's the very odd (for automotive design) dead giveaway that says it's a Peugeot 404.

an engineering tilt
All automobile wheels are either Hub-Centric, or Lug-Centric. A hub-centric wheel centers on the hub of the car, if you put the wheel on the car without lug-nuts the wheel would still be perfectly centered.

On a lug-centric wheel, the wheels are centered by the lugs as they are torqued up.

Most vehicles today are hub-centric, with the center-bores of their wheels machined precisely to the diameter of the hub.

Lug-centric designs allow the same wheel to fit a wider selection of vehicles.

Example lug-centric passenger cars are the original Volkswagen Beetle, the Renault R16, the Peugeot 404
and here's the odd man out, the 1978 Honda Accord hatchback.

As the wheel has no hole in the centre, imagine the difficulty of doing a wheel balance.
One will need a special adapters on the balancing machine, to center the wheel based on lug position!

No not that heap. This is in town.

The 404 was a fantastic car with rock solid ruggedness muck like the 504. A go anywhere vehicle was offered as a Sedan a Break or S/w and a coupe/convertible with twin carbs. Fast, silent and it never broke down. Ideally it could be referred to as a ''Tank".

Mr RohuRulz,
That car you have shown is a Fiat;either 1500 or 1800.

Nope, we have already identified the car as a Peugeot 404.

Had seen a Morris Oxford lying outside the Kalina university in June. Will try to locate the pics and post them here.

Gogi Bhai,

that red Mustang 2 in lamington road garage... was it yours.
