On the way back from Munnar last month I took a route via Rajakkad and found a Kraz Military truck parked in front of a hotel. I didn't wait to click a picture, but while I stopped at Hotel Mariya at Kothamangalam, I found these vintages including a Diesel Electric Locomotive decorating their parking lots.

The truck with EVM in place of the logo is a Mack. I remember seeing a similar yellow Mack with KSEB (Kerala State Electricity Board) yard near HMT Colony, Ernakulam.

On conversation with the Hotel manager, I realize these are all Vintage collections of someone within the EVM group to whom the hotels belong to. Easy to guess was the hotel in Rajakkad (previously Sterling Rajakkad) is also a part of the EVM group.

Sorry for the not-so-detailed pictures, will surely pick some on my next visit.

Over to fellow petrol-heads for better identification of the Diesels here.

Found this pic from 1954 on FB - early example of the TELCO-Mercedes Benz collaboration for Indian trucks which lasted till 1969.

A May 1946 advertisement for Austin 8 and 10 hp vans.

I would regularly see one such van in Bandra, and always wondered if original or a conversion. We can see the structure is indeed original if updated a bit over the years.

It is not merely an early example but the very first TMB truck assembled by Tata Motors from CKD kit supplied by Daimler Benz AG! By 1960, most parts of the truck had been indigenized.
