Chennai Fun Run.

The Lady Andal School will be open to the public to come and see the cars. We are sorry that we cannot serve breakfast to the public at large. It costs money to arrange, and as we said earlier, this is being paid for by one of our very keen enthusiasts Mr.T.T.Raghunathan, whose car you may have seen in the Hindu Newspaper supplement today. He has some great cars and bikes that he will be bringing along. If you can bring along a Vintage or Classic, bike, car, or scooter, we would certainly love to serve you guys breakfast.
Those enthusiasts planning to join us Sunday with their cars and bikes, are requested to kindly register with us via email, so that we can make a final tally for the number of breakfasts that we need to order. The email to send to is motorenthusiasts@gmail.com

Returned from Lady Andal School an hr. back. All the cars have gone to Marina beach around 9.30 am.Once they return you all will get a better update

First time seeing many of those cars. Around 20 cars were there.
Let the experts describe them better.

For a newbie enthusiast , it was good experience.

TTK's Jag. E Type looked awesome.

Got some snaps . Will upload it soon.

4. Citroan Avant Traction
5. Plymouth / Buick / Chrysler

Googled about "Charles Mochet" , and I got the answer.

The owner was saying that he got the car in a very bad shape from Koyambedu market and I just got to hear only that part of his narration.
Maybe someone who knows about it in detail can detail on this.

Yes, there were some more cars in the rally. Uploaded the snaps , which I thought as Vintage.

Chennai Fun Run.

GTA, that is a Dodge Charger, and that is a new addition to Chennai. The little red car is a French Micro car, built by Charles Mouchette. Hope I have spelt it right. This was found in Pondycherry and now owned and restored by the gentleman who owns the Lady Andal School, Mr.Pratap. This is an extremely rare 'Micro car', one of six to be in existence in the world, of a total production of 600 cars. It has a rear two stroke, single cylinder engine.

Chennai Fun Run Fotos

So, here are the fotos of this morning's Fun Run. We had a good turnout, for your first run. The weather was warm, but a good number of people turned up. As promised, some cars that Chennai had not seen in the past, turned up.

Around a year back, I had stumbled upon the Dodge Charger while it was about to undergo restoration.
Initially from about 30ft in front of the hidden vehicle, I thought it was a Contessa without an engine and didnt care.I walk closer and then, the sheer size and those lines made me shout "HOLY MOLLY,Its a Charger"!
I would love to hear the story of its acquisition from the owner. It should be real special.

Incidentally, I was sent some photos of this very same car sometime last year- sent to me by a friend's father who took pics. of it from his mobile as he passed by the car during his morning walk one day.
Its an early ('62) Herald so those front indicators arent original. But the colour scheme is correct for that model. Incidentally, my '62 Herald was first registered in Coonoor as MDN 5019.
