Here are two snippets from the Vincent Owners Club "Riders Roll of Honour".

The biography indicates that Shanker's Rapide was a factory custom built "Special".

Also, that after his death (trying to break records), it was eventually bought by Patrick Godet of Egli-Vincent fame. So it is very likely that the magnificent machine still survives.

As an aside, both Royal Enfield and Vincent brands are now owned by Eicher (is that true) ?

Jaguar, Land Rover, R-E, Vincent........I think India can take on a few more Burra Sahib brands

The "Q'marri"

An interesting read on the Calcutta Motorsport scene:

I wonder which the 1934 H.J.Mulliner Rolls-Royce mentioned in the article was.

I think they would be referring to GTZ27 which they owned, though it was a Thrupp and Maberly body.

Not pre-1965, but rather interesting. Also some American Iron in the background.

Or possibly both pictures show the same car with the body taken off for "racing" ? Interesting.

Now when I compared the two, they pretty much look like the same car.

Re: Indian Motor Sport pre 1965

Probably the fastest Herald ever the grace the racing circuits. Pratap Jairam's Herald, as posted in FB

Indian Motor Sport pre 1965-image1.jpeg

Indian Motor Sport pre 1965-image2.jpeg

As described by Pratap

Quote:
In 1984 it was a herald engine , bored out to 1060 CC, had a full race cam, fully ported head and the famous split Weber carburation. Full close ratio box and LSD. 4 into 1 megaphone exhaust and had a 2 piece axle with double wishbone suspension in the rear.
Cheers

8th day, January 2nd, 1905: Nasik - Bombay, 147 miles.
The result was only for amateurs, ie each entry was to be made by the owner of the car.
