Classics in Quilon (Kerala)

Quilon is in Kerala, and is famous for its CASHEW industry.
Being a place earning a l lot of Export revenue,it had a lot of IMPORTED cars in the period 1960-1985.Sadly very few are left here.
Among them are a 1956 DODGE KINGSWAY,1946 BUICK SUPER 8(with the TKM group) ,Austin custom 7 seater, etc.
There was a 1960 MG B(KLU-112) owned by the Bidar royal family and then owned by MOHAN SANKAR(son of a former CM of Kerala) which has been in many films of the 80's.Any idea where it is now??
Anyone has

There is a thread on exotics, classics and imports in Kerala. Please post this question there - you may get better responses.

Yup - Quilon is the place with highest density of imported cars.`

Beetles

There were quite a few Beetles about 10 years ago in Quilon. Now all seems to be gone.
There was a KRF yellow one,2 beetles(one yellow and the other white) with Babu(Cashew exporter) and there was another one in Mayyanadu with a Singapore NRI .There is a black FORD FALCON with a petrol pump owner, and also a Hindustan 14 with an engineer
Also a Plymouth Savoy MGR4777 with a Businessman.
By the way teambhpians, please tell me about other classics /esp.Beetles in Trivandrum??

Hi classico, are u referring to the reportedly 'jinxed' beetle? The one that was rebuilt at koratty at one point of time? I think this car was painted in 2tone metallic lilac!

Yes, i think so. I hear it first belonged to someone(JAYAKUMAR) in Njarrakal(COCHIN) and came via Koratty to QUILON. The owner in Quilon was not happy with that car,it seem, so he sold it for Rs.60000/-(!!!!) in 2005,can you believe it??
muneemmk, the story of the car is whoever owns it is has a very bad experience.

Hi Classico,
The beetle you are talking about is presently with a friend of mine in my town. Was restored about two years back by me.Its in regular use now.The car was bought by someone near Trivandrum from the guy in Koratty. My friend bought it from him about two and half years back. The car is supposed to have a eaten up a few of the previous owners but of late no such bad behaviour has been reported. We had changed the engine during the restoration ( replaced it with a 1200 cc itself) and that fixed the curse .Classico please report where abouts of any of the classics in Quilon if you get any info.
