Is this a Madras(MSV) reg'd one by any chance? If so, twas a one-family owned car owned by a friend in Madurai and I understand he had sold it recently.

That's a different one and is Kerala registered. You might be speaking about this one.

It is indeed a 1949 KAIZER TRAVELLER and you can read more about this model here.

by the way I think it is an original one, because it was registered as a stationa wagon itself

Last weekend, I visited a distant relatives house in the urban area of Trivandrum. The purpose of visit was for inviting them to our cousins wedding.

As soon as I entered the compound, I noticed a vintage car parked in a small shed. I couldnt identify the car since I could only see the rear of the car and it was missing a lot of parts and needed a paint job. Also my knowledge in vintage cars are minimal. So we waited till we were about to leave to ask them which car it is.

As per the owner, It is a ford prefect awaiting restoration for past 6 years. Looks like an early 1950 model.

Unfortunately I could not click any pictures. I shall try to visit again to get more details/pics of the car.

Does anyone in Trivandrum knows the history of this car, The location is near pettah

The car you are mentioning is a 1946 ford prefect which was formerly owned by the family of the famous cardiothoracic surgeon Dr.Cherian of Chennai and was in Chenganoor when it was sold to Trivandrum in 2007.The car was lying in a workshop for a long period. if I am not mistaken it was owned by 2 brothers who had a collection of classic bikes. The car originally came from Madras state

Sharing few Screenshots from a 1983 Malayalam movie Nanayam (നാണയം) featuring Mohanlal and Mammootty as step brothers.
