The sky blue Cadillac in the top picture belonged to the now late Shri M.S. Oberoi, founder of the Oberoi chain of hotels.

The Auto Red Bug is NOT a Bugatti.....its a electric / battery powered device more like a golf cart without a body !

There was a write up on it way back in Indian Auto about how it was discovered in some small town scrap yard etc.

Nothing to do with real cars

Anjan Sir, if possible please scan articles, they can be read better.
We have discussed these Auto Red Bugs on this forum years ago, Holkar picked up three at some fair in Europe (Paris?) and of these one has been damaged in a fire. Ashoks car works well, somehow the wooden sleepers bend when someone sits to drive it. It was more of a garden car and was not permitted to run when entered at an event. It has an electric motor by Stratton (?), it is an American device. Also the name Briggs is somewhere involved. Has absolutely nothing to do with Bugatti. I forgot who owns the others, something was mentioned in the earlier post.

The Chevy Ashok speaks of bought from Lucas can be seen in Deutscheafrikars pictures, MMY 6966.
Ashok Shah is indeed one of the first to take out of India his Studebaker to participate in an event in Australia.
The car he is seen with the open bonnet is a famous Fiat now in a Mumbai collection slightly modified.
And the pale blue car is not a Cadillac, it is a Plymouth. The Oberoi Cadillac was white in colour missing glasses and acrylic put.
Ashok has a Cartier worthy car in the shape of a Lincoln, it has been restored and a drive posted on U Tube, who knows it may even participate.

Attached are two scanned articles, one article has been partly scanned only because of the use of a Vintage car in the picture.

As far as I know, Briggs & Stratton typically make small H.P. gasoline engines - for lawn movers, small garden tractors, snowblowers, etc.
Maybe they made electrics too.

Thanks Hairt Sir, that's well taken. The jumbo sizes of these articles leave little choice. Most of the other images I post are scanned but for the larger ones.

What I do is to take two scans of a large page and post accordingly. While scanning I set the boundaries according to columns, if they are too long then upper half and lower half, and keep a bit of the other scan for easy identification.
If one has the skill, taking photos gives better results than a scan, but I have seen only professionals get the perfect results.

The two pictures from the Times of India, Mumbai edition.
One is a Rolls Royce from the Pranlal Bhogilal collection participating in a VCCCI Rally in 1999.



The other one is a Dodge Kingsway featured in an advertisement during 2000.

This article appeared in the latest issue of Business India related to the Rajkot Rolls P2. Also states in the same article on a Dealership of Rolls Royce being set up in Gujarat.
