Would have loved to see that one in action. Anything seriously wrong with that jeep H14?
Hi Pavan

Initially, it went to the garage for the original grille, then we planned to change the gearbox. The one which was in the Jeep had niggling issues and Ryan helped us in sourcing another original gearbox. By this time, it was found that the platform / running board was a bit off shade, and as a result, we planned to set the body right.

Its been a while since it was left in the garage in Pollachi, I'm planning a visit this weekend, will know the status only then.

This time not only me, even other participants in the Rally felt the Willy was missed...

Please bear with me for more pictures of the event.

Thanks for sharing, h14. The setting does look great.

Would you have any more pics of the cream Mk 1 Amby MDN 5929? Really looks nice. Also from where did you source the beauty rings for the wheels on your Mk 2? I would be very keen to have a set if you can help me out.

From my understanding this is the Hindusthan 14, based on the Morris Oxford. I have learnt through the forum that a similar car was later launched with the Landmaster like grille and OHV engine was called the 14 'Newlook' (?).

Prior to the 14 was the Hindusthan 10, based on the Morris 10/4. Fellow BHPian veldeep owns a restored example. This was available in the 40s in India, but probably earlier in the UK.

Currently these are all the pictures that I have with me. I'm awaiting copies from the official photographer of the event. Will post them as soon as I get them.

Regarding the rings, they are widely available down here. If you are unable to source them, you can PM me. Will be glad to help you. I believe you are referring to such rings in this picture, right?

So probably if given a description of split windscreen, normal opening doors with cut glass, engine hood like a beek (as in the pic of Hindustan 14) and a toothy grill. All these correspond to Hindustan 14? Did the Hindustan 10 on a later stage sport split windscreen and other details.

A mechanic just told me of an Hindustan S10 and so my query.

manishji,
there was only one Hindustan10 and it was based on the Morris10/4.
It did not have split windscreen but a windscreen which can be opened/lifted up via a knob.
Incidentally it was the first car assembled by Hindustan Motors from a place near Vadodara in 1947 even before the plant was set up at Utarrpara on the banks of Hooghly.
There is a 1947concours Hindustan10 with full history/documentation in south Tamil Nadu which I personally know. also there are 2 hindustan 10s in running condition in kerala
I dont know from where this notion has spread that there were 2 types of hindustan 10.
It was actually a SKD unit which was assembled in not too large numbers(less than 1000 if my info is correct).

The misinformation largely due to internet and misinformed mechanics, and for that reason I sought info on the forum from enlightened members . Thanks for replying. The car in question is Hindustan 14 (confirmed after your and Karl's reply), and thus is less desirable for me.

Hi Stanher. Sorry for the delayed response. I'm yet to receive pictures from the official photographer, will upload them as soon as I get it. BTW, if you need any other info regarding the Vauxhall, let me know so that I will talk to its owner and get you his contact details. I'm sure he will be very glad to help you.
