Hope you like. It is quite a good condition.

In all probability it is TIRUPPATTUR , near Vellore in Tamilnadu. It is one of the oldest towns in tamilnadu with a history of over 1600 years

Re: Vintage Related Memorabilia

And then there came along some more tax tokens from the south. Unfortunately these are not in as good a condition as the previous one. The ink has faded, bad hand writing and it appears (maybe just very faded) that some info was left out. Maybe someone can make out the number, make of vehicle and the place these were issued from. Very taxing

Cheers harit

Some documents outlast the cars themselves!

Found the insurance certificate of my grandpa’s Standard Gazel 1976. This one seems to be the first insurance policy of that car. It was an orange car, registered BRD 4444. It was painted red in the late 70s and was replaced with a new Maruti 800 in the 1980s.

It is definitely Tiruppattur.
I can clearly see it.
Despite the slightly obscured letters.

This is perplexing. Tirupattoor being deep within the Madras Presidency, I would have expected a Mx or Mxx registration.

Perhaps many districts at the time (the 30s in this case) ran their own series, which would have changed to MS or MD once the borders were redrawn. For example Pudukottai was using PS series.
