1930 Hudson Super Six

Hello Friends,

I cud'nt resist but solve this mystry. This Hudson was owned by Late Mr. Shashi Kanoria (its devastating that we lost him this year unexpectidely due to an unsuccessful operation). Mr.Kanoria bought this car from UP in the mid 80's and restored it to concourz condition, himself,in Calcutta. Later, in the early 90's it changed hands and went to Mr.Mulik who immediately passed it on to the south. After which, I do not know its whereabouts. Its registeration number then was UPC 265.

Warm Regards..

Interesting. There always were a handful of cars that appeared on the vintage car scene at rallies here in Hyderabad, most of which we were familiar with and I doubted this car's number as I simply don't recall ever seeing it

Hi Shrivardhan.

Good to see you active after a real long time.

Sorry to hear about Mr. Kanoria, he was a gem of a person and a great restorer / car enthuseast.

Now that you posted thse pics it jogged my memory. The last two pictures of the Hudson with the Jag Tourer visible next to it appeared in an article on your Dad in one of the car mags way back.

So I was correct to mention that thei car was with Ranjit Mallik at one time. Since he was based in Hyderabad in those days he might have grafted that APX plate on it.

Any idea where this car is today ???

Mohammed Bhai....still waiting to hear your inputs on this.

Here are two Hyderabad Cars which were seen in Bangalore. Both are Chrysler

This a 1936 Chrysler

This 1937 Chrysler is definitely more ugly then the 1936 model. I understand that this car is a one family car.

Can anyone give us some history of these cars?

Cheers

The black 36 car is definitely very handsome. I think it has some connection with our own Wasif's family. I had seen it for sale in Bombay with a broker a couple of years back, painted off white, superbly presented. Then at a recent event the car was entered by PP Asher. I also more recently heard that the car is sold to Pune, but cannot confirm.

I think they installed the front bumpers upside down after repainting!

Please correct me if I am wrong.

APX 487 used to be a single owner car that belonged to an uncle of mine Col Ishaaq. He was with the Hyderabad army and this car was bought new by him.

It remained in the family till the mid nineties when his last son who lived in Hyderabad was migrating to the US and sold it on.

This was a remarkably intact and totally original conditionc ar which was always garaged from new. Was used periodically predominantly int eh weddings of all the Col Ishaaq's sons and daughters.

It was bought by the Mudfort family of car collectors / dealers who changed teh colour scheme from light brown to black.

It then moved out from Hyderabad and has travelled a lot since I am told.

Currently it is in Pune if I am not mistaken.

One truly original and very nice car. Pity it has gone thru so many hands and has had a few non original paint and upholstry jobs

It is a Chrysler Windsor 6 not an 8

There used to be a chocolate brown 30's Chrysler with dual side mounts and if I vaguely remember an 8. Does anyone know where that car is?
