1,000 km with my VW Virtus 1.5L DSG: 1st service experience & mileage

Though the car accelerates effortlessly and I don't find any body roll even in high speeds on curvy highways, the body stability can't be compared to our first Gen VW Jetta.

BHPian shiv4747 recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Update: 1000 km service feedback

Left the vehicle after fixing appointment with VW mount road on Monday morning. Initially over call while fixing appointment, they assured that car will can delivered in 3 hours since its just 1000 km check up.

Our sales rep introduced us formally to the service manager and service head.We listed out the minor compliant we had faced.

Here are the issues we mentioned about.

  • Ac compressor sound. Hissing noise often
  • Wind noise over right side driver window above 100kmph
  • Infotainment disconnection rarely.

Since these above are mentioned service manager said it will take a day or so since there are many vehicles coming in due to Chennai floods.

Next day we called regarding the delivery. But they said its almost done and just water service was pending. Since we were not in any hurry, we said ok.

Next day in the morning we got a call to take the delivery. I went around 4 pm and took the car.

  • I found the AC flow was slightly better. But I wasn't convinced though.
  • The wind noise above 100 was slightly rectified.
  • Regarding the infotainment disconnection, they asked to connect carplay before the drive. So that it works flawlessly. I understand that while driving, we weren't able to disconnect one and connect other.

I fuelled up XP95 this time. Went for a long drive. 1.5 engine is really fun. I just love it.

Though the car accelerates effortless and I don't find any body roll even in high speeds on curvy highways, the body stability can't compared to our first Gen VW Jetta.

With all the excitement during the delivery of new car, I did not find any complaints on the dash plastics in the front and in the windows, now I feel that it could have been better. The light color areas in the doors are bit difficult to manage it clean.

  • Please mind the boot while open it using remote. We need to make sure it settles in a position when we open.
  • The stiff suspension feels good in highways whereas in city, I drive it with more cautious as we had spent quite some for out jetta in our 14 years of ownership.
  • Regarding the mileage the long term shows average of 13 kmpl. I observed that it gives 9 to 10 kmpl in city b2b traffic.

Last week there was an unexpected accident when my wife took the car out. A ford endeavour hit our car when she is was in idle in a signal. The rear bumper bottom area with that crome part got loosened. Nothing happened to my wife nor the car besides the same above.

Thankfully we got the dashcam installed within 3 weeks of our car delivery. The for Endeavour guy was decent enough to told her not to worry and apologised it was his mistake and shared his license, visiting card and his car's docs. He told to inform him once the VW service gives us the quote for the damage. No major scene.

My wife wasn't convinced enough regarding the AC work. So we wanted to go to service again to check on the bumper thing and the AC after discussing with Relationship manager's feedback call.
Once we reached the service, they attended us and checked the AC and told us this is the maximum limit we can do as the compressor has certain level and instructed us to keep 18 degree with 2 points in fan speed.

They hooked the rear bumper and told us there werent any scratch or anything broken. We were happy hearing this and informed the ford endeavour person regarding the same. He was glad as well.
During our long trip to Bangalore while returning, due to new roads and rain, many micro tar marks are all over the car body. Will be leaving the car for a detailed polish car wash.

We are happy with overall performance of the car. Since the car is out of break-in period, planning to take for a long drive in upcoming days and update more about the driving experience.
