2015 Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S Coupe unveiled

Following the reveal of the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe in December 2014, the German car maker has unveiled the GLE63 S Coupe. The performance spec GLE will be a direct rival to the BMW X6M.

Under the hood is AMG's 5.5-litre, V8 biturbo engine that makes around 577 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 760 Nm of torque at 1,750-5,250 rpm. Mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC transmission that sends the power to all four wheels, the SUV does the 0-100 km/h sprint in a claimed 4.2 seconds.

Exterior cues include a thick single slat chrome grille, large air intakes, a sculpted bonnet with two "powerdomes" and LED lights. You also get 22-inch titanium grey AMG cross-spoke light-alloy wheels, 285/40 R 22 tyres up front and 325/35 R 22 tyres at the back, along with red brake calipers. The GLE63 S Coupe is also recognizable by its tailgate spoiler lip, chrome plated twin tail pipes and of course the AMG lettering that now sits to the left of the Mercedes-Benz logo at the back.

On the inside, the performance crossover features nappa leather upholstery and AMG crests in the head restraints, a flat bottomed 3-spoke steering wheel with silver aluminium shift paddles and a redesigned instrument cluster with faux carbon fibre dials.
