2016 BMW 3 Series GT launched in India at Rs. 43.30 lakh

BMW has launched the facelifted 3 Series GT in India, with prices starting from Rs. 43.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The facelifted model will be available in two variants: Sport Line and Luxury Line.

Cosmetic updates on the outside are minor. The 2016 3 Series GT gets a full LED headlamp setup, that also houses LED corona ring DRLs. The headlamp also gets camera-based adaptive assistance system that automatically redirects the light beam away from oncoming traffic. It is further equipped with Adaptive Cornering lights and High-beam Assistant system that optimizes road illumination in all conditions.

The front bumper has been tweaked slightly to give it a broader look. On the sides, the biggest change is the new set of 17-inch alloy wheels. The frameless door structure of the outgoing model has been carried forward with the facelift, as has been the boot-lid mounted electronically deployable spoiler. The taillight cluster too has been slightly revised.

Interiors are similar to the new 3 Series, though the GT gets more room, especially at the rear. It has a 520-litre boot space that can be increased to 1,600 litres by folding the rear seats, which also have 40:20:40 split arrangement to optimize luggage area.

Powering the GT is the same 2.0-litre diesel engine from its predecessor, which churns out 188 BHP and 400 Nm of torque. This diesel mill can take the 3 GT from 0-100 km/h in a company claimed time of 7.7-seconds. The German automaker has also introduced a new 2.0-litre petrol engine with the 2016 3 Series GT, which is good for 248 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. The petrol GT can do the 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.1 seconds and is available only in the Luxury Line variant. Both these engines are mated to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.
