2017 Kawasaki Z1000 and Z1000R launched in India

Kawasaki has launched the 2017 Z1000 in India at a price of Rs. 14.39 lakh. The Japanese bike maker has also launched a sportier edition of the said bike, called the Z1000R at Rs. 15.49 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

The 2017 Z1000 is still powered by a 1043cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four-cylinder engine that churns out 140 BHP and 111 Nm of torque, while being mated to a 6-speed gearbox. This engine has been slightly tweaked to be compliant with BS-IV emission norms, though the final power and torque output figures haven't been changed. The 2017 model also gets gear position and up-shift indicator. Kawasaki also claims to have fiddled with the ECU settings of the bike for a smoother power delivery. Additionally, the company claims that the suspension setup has been tweaked to enhance comfort while the brake pads now offer better feedback.

The Z1000R is a new addition to the Kawasaki line-up. It is a sportier, limited edition version of the regular Z1000. The two bikes share the same powertrain setup, though the Z1000R gets an upgraded suspension system that includes a new Ohlins monoshock at the rear. It also comes with Brembo M50 Monobloc callipers and specially designed disc brakes at the front that aid heat dissipation. The Z1000R further adorns special body graphics that cosmetically differentiate it from the regular version.
