2020 Tata Safari: Impressions of a Safari Storme owner

In my opinion, the new Safari is another MUV practically. It seems wise to buy the Crysta instead of a Safari at that budget.

Revisiting this thread again, but this time, with more experience of the new Safari, as we have bought one XZA+ in our extended family.

The OP has made an excellent point in his verdict

Which means, existing Safari TCIC/Dicor/Storme owners won't really buy the new Safari as their replacement. I for one, like the new Safari, just not enough to pay 28 lakhs for it. In my opinion, the new Safari is another MUV practically. It seems wise to buy the crysta instead of a Safari at that budget.

And being a long term user of the first two OG Safaris and having experience with the new Safari, if one asks me whether the new Safari is a better car than the old ones, my answer would be - Absolutely.

Let's not ignore the following facts

1. 90% of Safaris sold were 4x2
2. Safari 4x4 was a very mediocre off-roader. 2.2 tonne kerb weight had its demerits when it came to offroading
3. A vast majority of Old gen Safari lovers on the internet have not driven/used one extensively, let alone own one. Given a chance to have the Storme on sale today, none of them will even consider buying it

New Safari is lighter, faster, more efficient, easier to drive, has more features, gets an AT, easier ingress/egress and 2 forward facing seats in the third row(which is equally useless as the child seats in storme). It just cannot measure up to the amazing second row space and comfort that the OG Safaris offered. I don't find much difference in the interior quality of Storme post 2016 facelift (had softer dash plastics and a very similar black and Grey theme). New Safari audio quality is much better than the archaic 2 din Harman Kardonn in the storme.

I don't agree that new Safari lacks road presence. Both have their own charm.
