2022 Lamborghini Urus Performante with 657 BHP unveiled

The new SUV will take on the likes of the Audi RSQ8, Aston Martin DBX707 and the upcoming Ferrari Purosangue SUV.

Lamborghini has taken the wraps off the new Urus Performante.

The new super-SUV from the Italian supercar brand comes with a host of mechanical and cosmetic updates over the standard model. This includes an updated version of its 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 unit, which now produces 657 BHP (16 BHP more than the standard) and 850 Nm. The new performance SUV also has a quicker top speed of 306 km/h, while 0 - 100 km/h now takes just 3.3 seconds, all thanks to the 47 kg weight reduction.

Other mechanical changes include a new coil-spring suspension setup instead of the air springs. The Lamborghini Urus Performante now sits 20 mm lower, while being 16 mm wider and 25 mm longer than the standard model. Lamborghini also provides the Urus Performante with optional Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres. The Urus Performante comes with a new 'Rally' mode, alongside the existing Strada, Sport and Corsa modes for better off-road handling.

In terms of exterior updates, the Urus Performante gets a carbon-fibre bonnet as standard, while the carbon-fibre roof is offered as an option. The SUV features a redesigned front grille with larger air vents for better cooling. The SUV also gets a newly-designed rear bumper and a new spoiler which helps improve downforce by 38 per cent. The Urus Performante sits on optional 23-inch alloy wheels.

Inside the Urus Performante carries most of the features from the standard model. However, the new SUV does come with Black Alcantara as standard all around, hexagonal design for the seats and 'Performante' badging.

The new Lamborghini Urus Performante is priced at US$ 260,000, with deliveries said to begin by the end of 2022. The new SUV will take on the likes of the Audi RSQ8, Aston Martin DBX707 and the upcoming Ferrari Purosangue SUV.
