2022 Toyota Hilux GR Sport unveiled in Europe

The GR Sport is said to have been inspired by the brand's success at the Dakar Rally.

Toyota has unveiled the flagship GR Sport version of its Hilux pickup truck for the European market. The GR Sport is said to have been inspired by the brand's success at the Dakar Rally.

The GR Sport comes with a number of design updates, both on the outside and inside, along with a number of features updates and other changes. These include a tweaked front bumper with taller side air intakes integrating the fog lamps, gloss black elements all around and a body-coloured skid plate. The GR Sport variant rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres, plastic fender extenders, side steps, GR Sport badges and black mirror caps.

On the interiors, the Hilux GR Sport variant comes with black leather upholstery with synthetic suede and contrast red stitching. The GR Sport trim also comes with carbon-fibre elements all across the dashboard and central console, aluminium pedals and blue illumination on the door panels.

Apart from the cosmetic updates, GR Sport trim also gets an upgraded suspension. This includes stiffened coil springs with monotube shock absorbers at the front, while the rear carries forward the standard leaf-spring setup.

The 2022 Toyota Hilux GR Sport will continue be powered by a 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine that produces 201 BHP and 500 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system. The flagship variant also comes with paddle shifters and an automatic limited-slip differential.
