2023 Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance unveiled

The new engine is the most powerful four-cylinder hybrid unit in the world.

Mercedes has unveiled the new AMG C63 S E Performance sedan globally.

The all-new AMG C63 S comes with a powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid engine, replacing the twin-turbo V8 on the previous model. The new engine is the most powerful four-cylinder hybrid unit in the world, producing 671 BHP and 1020 Nm, mated to a 9-speed AMG Speedshift automatic gearbox. The engine is further paired with an electric motor that drives the rear axle. The electric motor produces 198 BHP and 320 Nm and sends power via a 2-speed gearbox.

The hybrid powertrain allows the new AMG C63 S to accelerate from 0 - 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 280 km/h. The range-topping performance sedan also gets Mercedes' 4MATIC as standard. Further, the new AMG C63 S comes with a 400-volt, 6.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The sedan can reach speeds of 130 km/h on electric propulsion alone, while also having an electric-only range of 12 km.

The 2023 Mercedes-AMG C63 S is the flagship version of the brand's C-Class range. The all-new iteration comes with plenty of design upgrades and added features compared to the old models. It is longer than the old model by 56 mm, while the wheelbase has been stretched by 10 mm. The 2023 AMG C63 S gets the Panamericana grille up front, large air intakes, rear diffuser, quad exhausts and standard 19-inch wheels with 20-inch alloys offered as an option. The new C63 S also comes with rear-wheel steering, adaptive suspension, eight driving modes and plenty others.

Inside, the 2023 Mercedes-AMG C63 S carries forward a cabin similar to the latest iteration of the C-Class, albeit with AMG-specific upgrades. This includes plenty of carbon fibre trims all around the cabin, sport seats, all-black upholstery with contrast stitching and plenty of other AMG treatments as well.
