2nd-gen Maruti Ertiga spied with an automatic gearbox

While the second generation Ertiga has already been launched in Indonesia, Maruti Suzuki is still putting the final touches on the India-spec car. Test mules of the MPV are being spotted regularly but more recently, spy images of the Ertiga automatic have surfaced online.

On the outside, the test car looks similar to the Indonesia-spec Ertiga. It has the re-profiled grille flanked by new headlamp clusters and a redesigned front bumper with circular fog lamps. It gets electric ORVMs with integrated turn signals and silver alloy wheels.

The car has beige interiors with faux wood trim on the door panels. The front seats are wrapped in dual-tone beige upholstery and have a centre armrest. The dual-tone dashboard appears to have a touchscreen on the centre console, while the climate control module is positioned below it. This particular car has an automatic transmission. The gear lever is finished to match the interior colour and has silver trim on the gear knob. The 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel is new and has silver trim around the switchgear. The instrument cluster consists of 2 dials with a central MID. The test vehicle also has an engine start/stop button.

The second generation Ertiga is expected to be offered with a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine with 103 BHP and 138 Nm of torque, which replaces the old 1.4-litre unit. It will also be available with a Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine, which will be replaced with a new 1.5-litre diesel later. In addition to an automatic transmission, spy images have revealed that the MPV might be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox as well.
