2nd-gen Mercedes-Benz GLC launched at Rs 73.50 lakh

The Mercedes-Benz GLC competes with the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Land Rover Discovery Sport and Volvo XC60.

Mercedes-Benz has announced the launch of the 2023 GLC in India. The premium SUV is available in two variants: GLC 300 4Matic and GLC 220d 4Matic, priced at Rs 73.50 lakh and Rs 74.50 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom).

The second-generation GLC is 60 mm longer than the outgoing version. Its wheelbase has also grown by 15 mm, as well as the boot space which is now 620 litres - 70 litres more than on the older model. The GLC gets a redesigned front end with reprofiled LED headlamps, a reworked grille and a front bumper. At the rear, the car gets slim LED tail lamps connected by a black insert and twin chrome exhaust tips. The car rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the SUV comes equipped with an S-Class-inspired dashboard featuring an 11.9-inch touchscreen running the brand’s latest MBUX infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Other features include a 360-degree camera, an air-purifier, 64-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof and heated front seats with memory function.

The GLC also gets a 'transparent bonnet' feature that uses a front-mounted camera to display what's underneath the car. This feature can be useful when driving over rough terrain. Besides this, the SUV also comes equipped with ADAS and active parking assist.

The GLC is available with two engine options. This includes a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol that makes 254 BHP and 400 Nm and a 2.0-litre diesel that puts out 194 BHP and 440 Nm. Both engines are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. Both powertrains also feature a 48V mild-hybrid system that adds an additional boost of 23 BHP and 200 Nm.
