4th-generation Toyota Vellfire and Alphard unveiled

The Toyota Vellfire and Alphard are based on Toyota's TNGA-K platform, which also underpins the Lexus LM.

Toyota has taken the wraps off of the all-new Vellfire and Alphard for the global markets. Both luxury MPVs are currently in their fourth generation and share their underpinnings with the Lexus LM.

The Toyota Vellfire and Alphard are based on Toyota's TNGA-K platform. The MPVs measure 4,995 mm in length and have a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.

As is with the previous generation Vellfire that is available in India, the new model has quite a presence. The MPV has a massive 6-slat grille up front flanked by LED headlamps and a front bumper with large vertical vents and chrome trim around its edges.

Inside, you get a large central touchscreen and a 3-spoke steering wheel. Both models can seat up to 6 people in a 2+2+2 configuration.

The Toyota Vellfire and Alphard are available with three engine options. The lower variants are powered by a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 180 BHP and 235 Nm. There's also a 2.5-litre petrol hybrid that puts out 250 BHP. The 2.4-litre turbo-petrol option is the most powerful of the lot. It makes 275 BHP and 430 Nm. Transmission options include a CVT, an e-CVT and an 8-speed automatic.
