Apollo targets 20 tyre retreading shops in 2015-16

Apollo Tyres started with its ARZs in 2014; the first two outlets were opened in Jaipur and Chennai. With an objective to spread its network further for branded retreading outlets, Apollo Tyres inaugurated its 3rd Apollo Retread Zone (ARZ) in Mumbai, in the western part of India. Rajesh Dahiya, Group Head, Sales-APMEA (Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa), Apollo Tyres Ltd inaugurated the outlet in Turbhe, Navi Mumbai. These branded outlets will provide retreading services to truck-bus customers and fleet owners, equipped with retreading machines, tread material and trained workers.

A retread costs owners approximately 25-27% of the cost of a new tyre and can last upto 90% of the mileage of new tyres. Truck-bus radials are also capable of multiple retreads due to their strong build, hence, it is no surprise that customers are opting for retreads on their tyres.

Apollo claims that tyre manufacturers are the preferred choice for retreading in comparison to the unorganized players. Seeing the demand for branded retread, which is not widely available in the country, the company is targeting to have 20 retread outlets by the end of this fiscal for a pan-India presence.

Apollo Tyres trains the employees of Apollo Retread Zone at its Retread Research and Training Centre in Chennai. If you missed our detailed report of the Apollo factory in Chennai, click here.
