BMW 1-series sedan spied in Germany

Spy pictures of the BMW 1-series sedan have emerged on worldcarfans.com. These are the first spyshots of the BMW 1-series sedan since the news of its development almost a year ago. Based on the UKL platform, the sedan will go head to head against the upcoming Mercedes CLA and the recently launched Audi A3; both models have been fairly successful in international markets.

The test mules of the 1-series sedan are heavily camouflaged but what is easily identifiable is the longer bonnet with muscular bulges and a sporty front bumper with large air dams. A sloping roof line and a shark fin antenna are noticeable on the side profile; dual tip exhausts are visible at the rear.

Rumours are that the 1-series sedan will be a front wheel drive rather than a rear wheel drive car, which might disappoint some BMW aficionados. The present 1-series is the only rear wheel drive premium hatchback available and comes with a choice of 1.6L petrol and 2.0L diesel motor option, here in India.
