BMW ActiveHybrid 7 launched in India at Rs. 1.35 crore

German carmaker, BMW has launched the ActiveHybrid 7 luxury sedan in India at an all-India ex-showroom price of Rs. 1,35,00,000.

The ActiveHybrid 7 is, in essence, a 7 Series sedan with an electric motor working in tandem with its petrol engine. The car has a 2979 cc, in-line 6-cylinder, TwinPower turbo petrol unit that puts out 315 bhp @ 5800 rpm and a 40 kW (54 bhp) electric motor. When the situation demands (eg. overtaking), the electric motor gives a boost to the performance by providing extra power without any additional consumption. With a combined torque output of 500 Nm and an 8-speed automatic transmission, BMW claims that the ActiveHybrid 7 has a 0-100 time of 5.7 seconds and can attain an electronically limited top speed of 250 kph. On the battery alone, the car can run up to speeds up to 60 kph and for a range of up to 4 km. A Lithium-ion batteries supply the necessary power for the car to run on electricity alone. This battery gets charged as you drive along with the help of energy regeneration, as soon as you lift off the accelerator or apply the brakes. The driver can choose between five drive modes to suit his needs – ECO PRO, Comfort, Sport and Sport+.

The ActiveHybrid 7 is available with a choice of ten body colours – Alpine White, Glacier Silver, Havanna, Sapphire Black, Cashmere Silver, Milano Beige, Space Grey, Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect, Sophisto Grey II Brilliant Effect and Mineral White. The car gets new adaptive LED headlights, kidney grille with chrome accents, 19-inch alloy wheels and ActiveHybrid lettering on the C-pillars and engine cover.

Coming to the interiors, there is a drive-focussed cockpit with ambient mood lighting, satellite navigation, rear seat entertainment package, folding tables in the backrests of the rear seats, massaging seats, automatic climate control and ActiveHybrid lettering. Other features include auto start-stop and automatic tailgate operation.

The ActiveHybrid 7 is now available at BMW dealerships in Delhi (NCR), Mumbai and Chennai as a completely built unit (CBU).
