BMW i Vision DEE concept unveiled; Previews next-gen EVs

The i Vision DEE shows how the car can be seamlessly integrated into the user's digital life.

BMW unveiled the new i Vision DEE at the recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, USA.

The new BMW i Vision DEE is said to be a futuristic all-electric sedan concept by the German brand that aims to provide a "Digital Emotional Experience" (DEE). The i Vision DEE previews the design and technologies which could make their way onto future BMW models, built using the brand's Neue Klasse electric architecture.

The futuristic electric concept adopts a three-box sedan body style and carries forward a number of BMW elements. This includes the signature kidney grille, twin headlamps & the Hofmeister kink. The i Vision DEE also borrows styling cues from the brand's iconic 2002.

Inside, the car comes with a bespoke steering wheel with central touchpoints, which can be operated using the thumb. The concept also features an innovative head-up display which projects information across the entire width of the windshield. This full-width heads-up display is said to be used on BMW models based on the Neue Klasse platform from 2025 onwards.

However, the standout feature of the BMW i Vision DEE is the latest iteration of the brand's E-Ink technology. The E-ink tech was first showcased on the iX at CES 2022 but was limited to Black & White. The technology on the i Vision DEE, however, is offered in a range of 32 colours with the surface of the concept divided into 240 segments.

The i Vision DEE shows how the car can be seamlessly integrated into the user's digital life. Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Group Design, stated that the vehicle itself is a portal to the digital world, with the driver always in control. The technology on the i Vision DEE also creates worthwhile experiences.
