Ex-Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn re-arrested in Tokyo

According to a media report, Carlos Ghosn has been re-arrested over fresh claims of financial misconduct. In March 2019, the 65-year old had secured bail after spending 108 days in custody.

It is reported that prosecutors went to Ghosn’s residence in the early hours of April 4, 2019 and arrested under the suspicion of using Nissan funds for personal use. According to a statement released by his representatives, the former Chairman said that it was another attempt by some individuals in Nissan to silence him by misleading the prosecutors.

In November 2018, Ghosn was arrested over financial misconduct. He was kept in custody and re-arrested on new charges a month later. Last month, the Tokyo District Court set the bail amount for his release at US$ 9 million.
