Fastest woman on 4 wheels, Jessi Combs, dies in jet-car crash

The world's fastest woman, Jessi Combs, was killed while driving a jet-powered car on August 27, 2019, in the Alvord Desert in Oregon. Combs was 39 and was driving a North American Eagle Supersonic Speed Challenger.

The 52,000 BHP jet-powered car is the same one with which she got the title of “fastest woman on four wheels” in 2013 after she crossed 641 km/h. It is said that last year, she touched 777.67 km/h on the shakedown run but mechanical problems ended her run. She was attempting to beat her previous record when the accident occurred.

Jessi Combs was also a television personality, racer, and a builder and fabricator and is credited for designing a line of women's welding gear. She was seen on TV shows like Overhaulin’, All Girls Garage, and Mythbusters. She also competed in the Baja 1000 and won the 2016 King of Hammers event.
