Ford Mustang Mach-E trademark filed in India

The Mustang Mach-E is expected to compete with premium EVs like the Mercedes EQE, BMW iX and the Audi Q8 e-tron.

Ford has filed a trademark for the Mustang Mach-E nameplate in India. Does this hint at the brand’s possible return to the Indian market?

Ford had announced that it was planning to bring the Mustang Mach-E to India before it halted its local operations. The EV is likely to be imported as a CBU under the rule that allows for the import of 2,500 units without homologation.

The Mustang Mach-E is a 5-seater all-electric crossover. It is offered in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations and with the option of two battery packs.

The single-motor entry-level version of the Mach-E comes with a 72 kWh battery pack offering a range of 491 km. The range extender variant packs a 91 kWh battery that can cover 600 km on a single charge.

The Mach-E is also available with a dual-motor setup. The AWD version comes with a 91 kWh battery pack and a range of 548 km, while the top-spec GT AWD variant can cover 489 km on a single charge.
