Hi fellow BHPians,
I purchased my G20 330i in September 21. Immensely satisfied by the purchase. However, I keep wondering had I spent the extra lakhs and got the M340i.
I love the fact that my 330i feels comfortable on potholes, doesn’t scrape and runs on normal fuel with a decent lifetime mileage of 10KmpL. To spice up my drives, I am planning on going for a Stage 2 or at least Stage 1.
What I am wondering is, is it even worth it? If these mods will make it as fun to drive as a base M340i, I don’t see a reason to buy it. I also am not sure that after buying M340i, I might feel I should’ve bought the M4. I only drive on city roads (lots of pot holes and ramps) and highways (30/70).
I have a Jimny for bad roads.
I intend to understand what mods to get to make it as fun to drive as a M340i. Also suggestion for the place to get these mods from in the Delhi NCR area.
Thanks
Nir
Here's what BHPian sunikkat added to the discussion:
Not sure, but from what I have read and heard you shouldn’t be running 330i in normal fuel. For this reason l am always using XP95.
Also don’t think it’s fair to compare tuned with stock car. I am sure a tuned 330i will bridge the gap with 340i, but then 340i has much more tuning potential.
So my suggestion is if money is not an issue, go ahead with 340i. But then you need to know that is the car you really want, as you don’t want to have buyers remorse of not going for M4. If not sure, wait, get 330i tuned and get that experience and decide on a change later.
Meanwhile, BHPian devilwearsprada had this to say regarding the matter:
While there's always a bigger fish in the sea, the 330i doesnt stand close to the 340i, the X-drive does change the dynamic driving feel a lot. A tune might help to make the car drive better but a stage 2 does come with its own set of woes, you'll need a good catless downpipe along with a good intake, the costs for a branded(Fi) would be between 70K-1.2L.
The total cost for the Stage 2 would be between 3-3.5Lakh and even then the car will feel a tad bit slower than the M340i.
Stock to Stock Horses, the M340i blows cars 2X its price from the competition and I recommend you sell the 330i and move to the M340i.
Also the manual suggests RON91, there's been some fair bit of discussion and 95 Octane should be the bare minimum.
