Harley-Davidson plans to open brand stores in India

Peter Mackenzie, MD, Harley-Davidson India and China, has said that the American bike maker is planning to open brand stores at major cities in India. He was speaking to the media after the launch of the 2018 Softail Deluxe and Low Rider.

Harley-Davidson currently operates 26 retail outlets in the country. The bike maker is now looking to expand its retail business by introducing stores that would deal exclusively in Harley-Davidson apparels and merchandise and will not sell its motorcycles. Such stores will come up in high-end shopping malls with heavy footfall. Unlike the apparels sold at Harley showrooms, products sold at the brand stores will not carry heavy branding and will be more subtle.

The company is currently seeking partners for 12 such stores planned to come up in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai.
